Beatrice Chebet won Kenya’s first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Kenya’s former 5,000m world record holder Faith Kipyegon finished second but was disqualified.Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands won the bronze medal, while Nadia Battocletti of Italy won the bronze. Team Kenya has appealed the decision to disqualify Faith Kipyegon.
