Kenya Police won their first-ever Kenya Premier League title. With one week remaining in the league, Kenya Police only needed one point to secure the championship.
In yesterday’s league match, they defeated Shabana FC 1-0 thanks to a goal by Brian Okoth in the 75th minute, which sealed their championship victory.
Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars, who were chasing Kenya Police, hoped for a mistake from the leaders, but Kenya Police maintained their lead without faltering.
Head coach Etienne Ndayiragije, who joined the team mid-season, said they faced very tough teams in the league and that reaching success was not easy:
“I don’t know what to say. Adrenaline is rushing through my veins, and I want to shout. I’m incredibly happy.”
“We worked very hard, and finally, we got what we deserved. I want to congratulate our opponents, especially Gor Mahia, who put pressure on us. It was a tough but valuable season, and we hope to repeat this success next season.”
“This season, we took a step onto the continental stage through the CAF Confederation Cup, but now a bigger stage awaits us. Therefore, we must put in even more effort.”
“I have confidence in the current squad, but we will enter the transfer market to strengthen the team,” he added.
