The Kenyan government has launched free Wi-Fi services in four schools as part of its efforts to bridge the digital divide in the country.
All of these schools are located in West Pokot County.
The schools are Ortum Mixed Secondary, Holy Rosary Girls Secondary, Saint Francis Ortum Boys Comprehensive, and Saint Bernadette Ortum Girls Comprehensive.
With this move, the government aims to promote digital learning and support innovation. Students in rural areas face significant challenges in accessing the internet.
Through projects like this, the government is working to bring internet access to remote areas and prevent the widening of the digital gap in the country.
By providing these schools with reliable and high-speed internet, the initiative seeks to offer both students and teachers broader access to online learning platforms and digital educational resources.
Although the project currently includes only four schools, it is considered a valuable first step.
