A new group of 39 Kenyans has been successfully evacuated from Lebanon, where ongoing Israel’s airstrikes and hostilities have escalated. The group was assisted by a multi-agency team, which ensured their safe departure from the conflict zone.
The evacuees were seen off at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, where they received counseling before boarding their flight to Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, they were greeted by government officials and their families.
This evacuation follows an earlier group of 55 Kenyans who were flown out of Lebanon earlier this month. The Kenyan government has pledged to continue evacuating citizens who have registered for assistance, with more batches expected in the coming days.
The government emphasized its ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Kenyans abroad, collaborating with both state and non-state actors to provide necessary support. Over 7,000 Kenyans have registered for evacuation, as the conflict in Lebanon intensifies, with thousands killed and displaced.
Efforts to assist and bring citizens home will continue, ensuring the safety and well-being of those wishing to return.
