Despite interest from major European clubs like Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Lyon, Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu has made the surprising decision to extend his contract with Slavia Prague.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who has consistently performed at a high level, caught the attention of many football fans with this unexpected move.
In a recent interview, Ogbu explained that the main reason behind his decision was Slavia Prague’s potential qualification for the UEFA Champions League. He stated:
“For me, extending my contract is a good decision and I believe it’s the best one because I understand the system and the philosophy here. I will also be able to play in the Champions League, which is something I’ve always wanted.”
“That’s why I decided to stay for a while before making the next step. For me, it’s the right choice.”
Ogbu’s goal is to spend one more season at Slavia Prague to continue his development, compete at a higher level, and potentially secure a bigger move next summer.
