Hull City have signed Nigerian international Semi Ajayi.
The 31-year-old defender, who previously played for Rotherham and West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, has made over 200 appearances in the division. Last season, hamstring injuries limited him to just 14 starts.
In an official statement, Hull City announced that Ajayi has signed a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.
Speaking about his move, Ajayi said:
“I’m really excited. I spoke to the sporting director Jared Dublin and head of recruitment Martin Hodge. They shared the club’s vision and plans for the season with me.”
“The club wants to compete at the top end of the table, and that’s exactly where I want to be. When I heard about the project, I couldn’t wait to get involved.”
“I believe I can bring Championship experience, leadership, and know-how. I’m comfortable on the ball, strong in the air, and my pace is a real asset—something Jared and Martin were very complimentary about,” the former Arsenal centre-back told the club’s official website.
“We all know how tough the Championship is, and I’m looking forward to contributing my experience to the team.”
“I had a great six years at West Brom, but now I’m ready for a new challenge. I’m coming in hungry to prove myself again and do my best in a Hull City shirt.”
