Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, announced on Monday at the House of Representatives that the country has surpassed the 50% threshold in high-technology industrial value.
The minister stated that Morocco has achieved a significant industrial breakthrough, with high and medium-high technology sectors now accounting for more than half of the nation’s total industrial added value.
Morocco was originally expected to reach these figures by 2035, but the country managed to hit the target 10 years earlier. In addition, Morocco has recently advanced to 57th place in the Global Innovation Index, securing second place in Africa.
Minister Mezzour also noted that Morocco currently has 14,500 hectares of developed industrial zones, emphasizing that the government has made nationwide industrial infrastructure coverage a top priority.
He added that some provinces will see rehabilitation of existing industrial areas, while others will require the establishment of new, alternative industrial zones.
