The 24th annual Ethiopian international 10 km race was held. This year, 43,000 people participated, an increase of 5,000 runners from last year. The race took place at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa. For the first time this year, it was awarded World Athletics Label status.
In the women’s race, Ethiopian Asayech Aychew, who was the pre-race favorite, won with a time of 32 minutes and 13 seconds. In the men’s race, last year’s winner Binyam Mehari also took first place again this year, finishing in 28 minutes and 25 seconds. Both winners received prize money of nearly $2,000. Prizes totaling close to $10,000 were distributed among participants.
