The 10-man shortlist for the 2025 African Footballer of the Year Award has been announced.
Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi, a key figure in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League triumph, and Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah, last season’s Premier League top scorer and assist leader, are among the nominees.
Victor Osimhen, who had a spectacular season with Galatasaray, also made the list. The Nigerian striker previously won the award in 2023. Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr were included for their crucial roles in helping Senegal qualify for the World Cup.
Other nominees include DR Congo forward Fiston Mayele, who shone in last season’s CAF Champions League, Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy, Cameroonian midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Moroccan midfielder Oussama Lamlioui. Last year’s winner, Ademola Lookman, did not make the shortlist this time.
Alongside this award, CAF also released the shortlists for Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year, Women’s Player of the Year, Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, and Women’s National Team of the Year.
