French company Vivendi’s high-speed fiber internet provider, Group Vivendi Africa (GVA), has announced plans to expand into Ghana.
A delegation led by GVA CEO Jean-François Dubois met with Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, to discuss the initiative. The Minister welcomed GVA’s decision to launch high-speed “fiber-to-the-home (FTTH)” internet services and described the proposed pricing as groundbreaking.
The Minister also suggested a collaboration between GVA and Canal+ to bundle broadband access with premium content streaming, highlighting that this could transform Ghana’s pay-TV and internet market.
GVA CEO Dubois stated that one of the company’s main goals is to provide affordable and unlimited broadband connectivity to Ghanaian households.
GVA currently operates in nine African countries. Most recently, CanalBox launched services in Benin on April 30, 2025. Across Africa, GVA has deployed 40,000 kilometers of fiber-optic network, covering more than 2.9 million homes and businesses.
This expansion is expected to further strengthen the company’s influence in the region.
