The first round of group stage matches has concluded in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Yesterday, South Africa faced Ghana, while Mali played against Tanzania, leading to some changes in group standings. South Africa defeated Ghana 2–0, securing the top spot in their group. They are followed by Mali, who claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Tanzania.
In Group B, Nigeria currently holds the lead after an emphatic 3–0 win over Tunisia. Algeria sits in second place following their win against Botswana.
In Group A, Senegal dominated the Democratic Republic of Congo with an impressive 4-goal performance, placing them firmly at the top of the group. Morocco and Zambia, who drew their match, currently share second place.
Each team still has two matches left to play in the group stage. At the end of this stage, the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament continues at full speed tomorrow with two matches: Zambia vs. Senegal and DR Congo vs. Morocco.
