Google and Cassava Technologies Launch Strategic Partnership to Expand AI Access in Africa
Google has joined this partnership through its Gemini AI platform, aiming to address two critical challenges limiting AI adoption in the region: high data costs and limited access to advanced AI tools.
Through this collaboration, the Gemini app will be available to users without consuming their mobile data.
The companies also aim to create a future where students, teachers, and parents can learn and create in more personalized and engaging ways using AI. With Gemini, students will be able to study complex topics, explore coding, and develop creative projects.
The Google AI Plus plan will provide tools such as NotebookLM, which transforms textbooks into interactive study guides.
Additionally, the plan includes 200 GB of cloud storage, supporting seamless learning and collaboration.
Both companies emphasize that this partnership represents a vision to democratize AI for millions across Africa.
By reducing access barriers and expanding digital education opportunities, the Gemini–Cassava collaboration aims to empower Africa’s youth — who are shaping global culture through art, music, and technology — to learn, build, and create using the full power of AI.
