Ghana’s Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that the country will introduce e-visa services by 2026.
The initiative aims to simplify the visa process and boost investment, trade, and diplomatic relations to strengthen the nation’s global standing.
Speaking on Tuesday at the MOBEX Africa Tech Expo and Innovation Conference 2025 in Accra, Ablakwa stated that this initiative is part of Ghana’s broader effort to modernize its diplomatic services for the digital era.
He explained that the e-visa system will make it easier for investors, technology experts, and business professionals to travel to and work in Ghana. Ablakwa also highlighted plans to introduce digital consular services for Ghanaians living abroad and to hold virtual diplomatic meetings to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
The ministry also announced steps to bridge the country’s digital divide, addressing one of the most significant challenges in Ghana’s technological development.
