One of the biggest problems in Ghana in recent times, youth unemployment, is being addressed through the launch of the Digital Innovation and Vocational Employability (DIVE) Training Programme.
The programme is expected to host 80 participants. Around 14.7% of the population faces unemployment, with the majority being young people.
With the DIVE Programme, which will be held in Accra, the aim is to contribute to the workforce and create quality employment opportunities in areas such as digital marketing, coding, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), problem-solving, and design thinking. The training is planned to combine theoretical content with practical learning opportunities.
THE PROGRAMME WILL COVER MORE YOUTH IN THE FUTURE
The programme is being implemented and developed in partnership with IoT Network Hub, the National Youth Authority (NYA), the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and the Ghana Hubs Network (GHN). The total training duration is expected to be 96 hours.
IoT Network Hub has previously carried out similar initiatives and has contributed to developing Ghana’s skilled workforce.
In this programme as well, industry partnerships will play an important role in ensuring that the newly trained workforce is employed after the training.
The programme is also planned to expand to northern Ghana in the coming years. In addition, it will align with the Ghanaian government’s broader “Skills for Jobs” project, which aims to provide employment opportunities for 600,000 people. In this way, Ghana’s young population will be utilized more effectively.
