Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, met this week in Accra with Lesotho’s Minister of Communication, Science and Technology, Nthati Moorosi.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening digital cooperation and promoting innovation.
Minister George announced that the Global Entrepreneurship Festival will be held in Ghana in November. The three-day event is expected to bring together over 100,000 entrepreneurs with global investors.
ICT DIVAS FORUM AND TECH GIANTS
The minister’s announcements did not stop there. He further stated that in 2026, Ghana, in partnership with Google, will host the ICT Divas Forum in Accra.
The event will bring together tech giants such as Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft, alongside African leaders, to develop strategies for the implementation of information and communication technologies.
Ghana is also preparing 15 new legislative frameworks covering artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, data protection, cybersecurity, and the digital economy. These frameworks are expected to be shared with other African countries, including Lesotho.
LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS FOR AGRICULTURE
In addition, Lesotho and Ghana will launch a joint project under the theme of developing large language models for agriculture.
As part of this project, Ghana’s academic community will collaborate with experts from Lesotho. The program aims to help farmers overcome language barriers.
Minister George also emphasized the need to establish a virtual working group consisting of about ten African countries, including Ghana, Lesotho, Namibia, Rwanda, Nigeria, Guinea, Kenya, and Gambia, in order to enable direct engagement with senior executives at platforms such as Google and Meta.
