Impact investment firm Gather Ventures, founded by Jo Opot, has launched a new fund aimed at supporting women-led climate-focused startups across Africa.
This initiative is also financially backed by Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
Gather Ventures adopts a flexible financing model to meet the diverse needs of early-stage startups.
This approach includes grants, equity investments, loans, and working capital, ensuring entrepreneurs receive the right support at every stage of their growth journey.
The fund primarily focuses on sectors where women already play a significant role, such as agriculture.
It also plans to encourage female participation in high-growth sectors like technology and construction.
With a goal to invest in 25 Africa-based climate startups by 2026, the firm aims to empower women entrepreneurs to build sustainable and resilient businesses that contribute to both environmental and economic development.
