Christantus Uche, who joined Getafe for just €500,000 from AD Ceuta, delivered an outstanding performance in La Liga this season.
The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder played in 38 league matches and, despite playing in a central midfield role, managed to score 4 goals and provide 7 assists.
Thanks to this performance, several Premier League clubs have shown interest in him — even though his release clause stands at €25 million.
Currently, mid-to-top-tier Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa are monitoring him closely.
If Uche manages to secure a move to one of these clubs, he will have completed a remarkable rise from Spain’s third division to the most competitive league in the world — the Premier League — in a very short time.
Getafe president Ángel Torres confirmed the player’s desire to move, stating:
“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants. He has offers from Serie A, but he only wants to go to the Premier League. I don’t know why. We’ll meet with him this week.”
Although the player is performing well, the Premier League is an extremely demanding environment. If Uche continues his development there, he has the potential to become a world-class footballer.
