The FIFA world rankings have been updated.
The Democratic Republic of Congo, which advanced past Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs, moved up four places to 56th.
Despite losing the match, Nigeria also climbed three spots, now ranking 38th in the world.
Among African teams, Morocco holds the highest position at 11th, followed by Senegal in 19th, Egypt in 34th, Algeria in 35th, Tunisia in 40th, and Ivory Coast in 42nd place.
The top five spots in the global rankings are occupied by in-form Spain, World Cup champions Argentina, France, England, and Brazil.
With the upcoming AFCON tournament, the rankings are expected to be updated again.
