FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Zamalek, one of the strongest clubs in the Egyptian Premier League.
The organization stated that the ban was due to three unresolved legal cases. The restriction will remain in place until these disputes are settled.
In recent years, Zamalek has faced multiple sanctions over financial disputes with former players and coaches. One of the figures previously linked to such cases was Portuguese coach José Gomes.
Following this new restriction, the club’s already fragile financial situation is expected to worsen. In Egypt, Ismaily, Eastern Company, and Tala Youth Centre have also been placed under similar transfer bans.
Although Zamalek currently sit third in the league with 22 points, such sanctions could pose serious challenges to the club’s future sporting success.
