Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed a landmark agreement to intensify security collaboration by forming a joint task force targeting anti-peace forces along their shared border. The initiative aims to enhance regional stability and combat cross-border crimes, including human trafficking and arms smuggling.
This agreement follows discussions between Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) Director General Redwan Hussien and Djibouti’s Security Documentation Service Director Hassen Seid. Both leaders emphasized the importance of elevating intelligence sharing and cooperation to address mutual security challenges.
The task force will also focus on tackling security threats affecting Ethiopia’s trade routes through the Djibouti port, ensuring safer and more efficient commerce. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding peace and stability in the region through coordinated efforts.
