Ethio Telecom announced the opening of a new South South-East Regional Office to enhance service quality, increase inclusivity, and improve digital access.
With this expansion, the growing demand from citizens for digital solutions and faster communication is being met. Moreover, this move represents a sustainable step toward the economic well-being of the community and contributes to the country’s digital transformation journey.
The existing South East Regional Office was established in Adama, Ethiopia. This facility was so vast that it managed to cover the area from Bishoftu all the way to the edge of East Bale. It effectively operated numerous mobile sites and managed an extensive telecom infrastructure through 128 service centers.
Recently, large-scale network expansion and modernization efforts — including the construction of advanced 4G LTE sites — created favorable conditions and great potential for the formation of this new region. For this reason, Ethio Telecom established a new regional office named “South South-East” to further enhance customer service.
The new office was set up in the city of Bale Robe. It covers Bale Zone, East Bale Zone, and part of West Arsi Zone, encompassing 29 woredas, 38 towns, and 471 rural kebeles.
In this area, there are also extensive agricultural and floriculture activities, major industrial parks, rapidly growing towns, various tourist destinations, and significant livestock resources. Therefore, the investment in this region is expected to bring benefits not only to the region itself but also to the entire country.
