Eswatini’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Hon. Savannah Maziya, and South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Hon. Solly Malatsi, held a high-level bilateral meeting in Pretoria.
Following the meeting, both parties signed a Digital Cooperation Pact.
The agreement covers key areas such as ICT policy harmonisation, artificial intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, broadband expansion, e-Government services, cybersecurity, and digital skills development.
This pact will also serve as a foundation for a future Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.
During the meeting, both ministers also agreed on the modernization of postal services.
With this step, supporting e-commerce, enhancing financial inclusion, and strengthening regional integration will become much easier.
Through this initiative, Eswatini is positioning itself as a progressive digital player in the region, while South Africa has once again reaffirmed its commitment to a secure, inclusive, and innovation-driven digital development vision.
