Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and addressing ongoing regional challenges. The Qatari official was accompanied by a high-level delegation, which included key figures such as Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Industry and Transport Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, and Minister of Planning, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, among others.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, the Qatari Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to fostering deeper political, economic, and investment cooperation with Egypt.
President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for Qatar’s support and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to meet the aspirations of both nations and tackle shared regional and global challenges.
The discussions also centered on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where both leaders underscored the need for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and unimpeded humanitarian aid to the region. They reiterated their collective support for the Palestinian people and their rights to establish an independent state in line with international law.
Additionally, the two sides expressed concern over the security and stability of Lebanon. They stressed the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the army, in maintaining Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and endorsed efforts to build upon the current ceasefire to achieve long-term regional peace.
Both Egypt and Qatar called on the international community to step up efforts in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and pledged continued cooperation to address the urgent needs of the Palestinian people. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also praised Egypt’s ongoing humanitarian assistance and expressed Qatar’s support for the upcoming ministerial conference in Cairo, which aims to further enhance international efforts to aid Gaza.
This meeting marks another significant step in strengthening the partnership between Egypt and Qatar, particularly in addressing critical regional issues and fostering peace in the Middle East.
