EGYPTAIR has confirmed a firm order for six more Airbus A350-900 aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to fleet modernization and future growth. This new acquisition brings the airline’s total A350-900 orders to 16, marking another significant step in its long-term strategy to meet increasing global travel demand and support sustainable aviation goals.
The announcement reflects EGYPTAIR’s intent to align its operations with emerging trends in air travel, particularly the shift toward more fuel-efficient and environmentally responsible aircraft. The additional A350-900s will allow the airline to extend its reach on long-haul routes while offering passengers improved comfort and reliability.
“Our continuous investment in fleet renewal is central to our mission of providing a seamless and enhanced travel experience,” said Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR. “This deepens our enduring partnership with Airbus, which has evolved through decades of mutual collaboration and shared vision. With the A350-900, we are not only expanding our global network over the next five years but also contributing to Egypt’s wider ambitions for a greener, more modern aviation sector.”
Airbus Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, welcomed the renewed partnership. “EGYPTAIR’s decision to return with a second A350 order is a strong endorsement of the aircraft’s efficiency, reliability, and sustainability credentials. We are confident the A350 will play a key role in EGYPTAIR’s continued growth and its transition toward lower-carbon operations,” he said.
The Airbus A350-900 is renowned for being the most advanced and efficient widebody aircraft in production. With cutting-edge aerodynamics and lightweight materials, it is powered by new-generation Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. These engines allow the aircraft to travel up to 9,700 nautical miles (around 18,000 kilometers) non-stop while consuming 25% less fuel compared to previous-generation aircraft—a key advantage in reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Inside the cabin, passengers will benefit from the Airspace by Airbus design, which emphasizes comfort and spaciousness. Features include wider seats, higher ceilings, larger windows, and customizable ambient lighting to reduce jet lag and enhance the in-flight experience.
Sustainability is a core component of the A350 program. The aircraft is already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and Airbus is aiming for 100% SAF compatibility across its fleet by 2030, as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
As of the end of May 2025, Airbus had recorded over 1,390 orders for the A350 from 60 different airlines around the world, underscoring its growing popularity among carriers seeking to balance operational efficiency with passenger comfort and environmental responsibility.
EGYPTAIR’s latest order reflects not only its vision for global competitiveness but also a broader industry move toward sustainable and technologically advanced aviation solutions.
