The Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) has confirmed that there is no threat of radioactive leakage following Israel’s latest airstrike on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. The agency reassured the public that the situation is under control and poses no danger to Egypt or the wider region.
The announcement comes after Israeli forces reportedly targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including the Natanz facility in Isfahan, during airstrikes on Tehran early Friday.
ENRRA said it was actively monitoring developments through a nationwide network for radiation detection and early warning. The agency stressed that background radiation levels were being continuously monitored and remained within safe limits.
The statement added that coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other national organizations was ongoing to ensure the safety of both the environment and the population.
ENRRA also stressed that there is no radiological threat to Egypt and warned citizens not to spread or believe unconfirmed information and rumours.
This comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Egyptian authorities also confirming the security of the country’s airspace and airports and condemning the Israeli attack as a dangerous escalation.
