Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawy, delivered an official invitation from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to South Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, inviting him to attend the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) scheduled for February.
The invitation was presented during a meeting on Saturday in Nicosia, where Badawy is currently visiting. The meeting followed the recent 10th summit of the Egypt – South Cyprus – Greece cooperation mechanism, held in Cairo earlier this month, which underscored the importance of enhancing natural gas collaboration.
According to a statement by Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum, EGYPES 2025 will be a platform for signing key agreements to develop the Cronos and Aphrodite gas fields in South Cyprus’ economic maritime zone. These agreements aim to expedite gas production and secure access to both local and international markets.
The ministry emphasized that these developments align with its six-pronged strategy to maximize petroleum wealth, foster regional cooperation, attract investments, and strengthen economic integration between Egypt and neighboring countries.
President Christodoulides expressed gratitude to President Sisi for the invitation and affirmed his eagerness to attend EGYPES. He highlighted the significance of fast-tracking joint energy projects with Egypt, viewing them as crucial for advancing bilateral economic integration and enhancing energy security in the region.
