The Democratic Republic of Congo recently became a sponsor of AC Milan, one of Italy’s biggest football clubs.
This sponsorship sparked a lot of speculation. Today, however, the financial details of the agreement have been revealed.
According to French journalist Romain Molina, the Democratic Republic of Congo paid €14 million to the Serie A giants. However, due to delays in the signing process, the country’s name will not appear on the club’s shirt until the 2026/2027 season.
In addition, a football academy and school will be built in the city of Boma in collaboration with the Mama Sofia Foundation. This initiative may not be the only one, as “further projects are currently under consideration.”
Through this type of shirt sponsorship, the country could also see development in areas such as tourism and international exposure.
