Premier League side Crystal Palace have taken action to sign Ousmane Diomande.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who plays for Sporting Lisbon, emerged as one of the most sought-after defenders last season thanks to his impressive performances.
Crystal Palace are especially looking to strengthen that area of the pitch due to the fact that their captain Marc Guehi has just one year remaining on his contract. The club is aiming to bring in a strong alternative, and Diomande could do much more than simply fill that gap.
However, several other clubs are also interested in signing the young Ivorian, which means his potential transfer to Palace is far from certain.
Sporting Lisbon are demanding a fee of around £40 million for the player. If Crystal Palace agree to pay that amount, it would mark the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
