The final draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been completed.
The tournament will kick off on December 21, 2025, with the opening match between Morocco and Comoros. The final will take place on January 18, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
In Group A, World Cup semi-finalists and 2025 AFCON hosts Morocco will face Comoros, Mali, and Zambia.
Group B features Egypt, led by stars Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, who will take on South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Angola.
The favorite in Group C appears to be Nigeria. The high-scoring Super Eagles will compete against Uganda, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
Group D includes Senegal, Benin, Botswana, and DR Congo, while Group E sees Algeria as the favorites. They will face Sudan, the tournament’s surprise team, along with Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso.
Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire, led by Emerse Faé, will compete in Group F against Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
After the group stage, the tournament will proceed to a knockout format. The champion of the 2025/26 AFCON will be crowned in 2026.
