As political tensions escalate in Côte d’Ivoire ahead of the October 2025 presidential election, the Coalition for Peaceful Change (CAPCI) has announced plans to convene a major meeting with religious and traditional leaders at the end of May. This move seeks to foster dialogue and promote national reconciliation in a bid to prevent potential unrest during the electoral period.
In a press conference on Monday, CAPCI officials emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful and inclusive environment for the election. The coalition stressed the need for open communication across party lines to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
The upcoming meeting, which will involve key figures from religious and traditional institutions, aims to build broader support for political tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the lead-up to the election. CAPCI’s efforts are focused on reducing political divisions and promoting unity among all Ivorians, regardless of their political affiliations.
CAPCI also called on the Ivorian government to take necessary steps to guarantee a secure environment throughout the election period. Leaders highlighted the critical role of law enforcement and political stability in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and preventing any disturbances that could jeopardize the nation’s peace.
