Abdoulaye Fall has been elected president of the Senegalese Football Federation.
During the election process, voting was suspended, and police intervened.
In the first round, Fall received 301 votes, while his closest rival, Mady Touré, got 116 votes.
Former president Augustin Senghor, who received 92 votes, withdrew from the second round, citing electoral irregularities.
As a result, the election process turned chaotic, and over 100 voters chose to abstain in the second round.
Abdoulaye Fall, who also serves as president of Senegalese second-division side Bambey FC, managed to win the presidency after the turbulent election, replacing Senghor, who had held the position since 2009.
However, Senghor was not the only one to raise objections. Mady Touré also claimed the election was rigged and announced he would take the matter to court:
“I was a candidate in 2013 and 2021, but no one listened to me. What happened today is corruption.”
“Both my team and I witnessed it. There is corruption in Abdoulaye Fall’s camp, and I will not continue with the election.”
“What happened today is a disgrace for our country. This election ended the way it began.”
“Justice must be served, and the state must take full responsibility.”
