The Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) matches continue with full excitement.
However, the intense interest in the tournament has unexpectedly led to some negative outcomes.
After Kenya’s 1-0 victory over Morocco, various issues occurred both inside and outside the packed Kasarani Stadium.
Problems such as a broken gate, fans entering without tickets, exceeding the stadium’s 48,063-seat capacity, and the occupation of areas reserved for the press overshadowed the match result and left unpleasant memories.
According to fans, police used pepper spray on those trying to enter the stadium through a lower gate.
To prevent such problems, Mookh Africa, the ticket provider for CHAN in Kenya, confirmed to BBC Sport Africa that ticket sales for upcoming matches at the Moi International Sports Centre, also known as Kasarani Stadium, have been suspended until new instructions are given by the organizers.
Additionally, following this incident, CAF fined the Kenya Football Federation $20,000, with $2,500 of the fine suspended.
