The finalists of the African Nations Championship, known as CHAN, have been decided.
Both semifinals played yesterday were fiercely contested.
The Sudan–Madagascar match ended 0-0 in regular time. Playing with 10 men since the 79th minute, Sudan conceded a goal in the final moments of extra time, as Rakotondraibe scored to give Madagascar a 1-0 victory.
The other semifinal was between Morocco and Senegal. Senegal opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Layusse Samb converted a corner into a goal.
However, just seven minutes later, Sabir Bougrine equalized with a fine strike from outside the penalty area, making it 1-1.
No further goals were scored in regular time, sending the match to penalties. Morocco converted all of their spot-kicks and triumphed 5-3 in the shootout to secure their place in the final.
The tournament final will see Morocco face Madagascar on August 30. A day earlier, Senegal and Sudan will battle for third place.
