The excitement of the World Cup qualifiers continues.
After today’s matches, Cape Verde achieved a historic milestone by finishing top of their group and securing their first-ever World Cup qualification. In Group D, Cape Verde defeated Eswatini 3-0 to claim the top spot.
Cameroon, who drew 0-0 with Angola, managed to finish second in the group. In the final match of the group, Mauritius and Libya played out a goalless draw.
In Group H, Tunisia — who had already secured first place — defeated Namibia 3-0 to finish the group stage unbeaten. Despite the loss, Namibia held on to second place. In the other matches of the group, Liberia and Equatorial Guinea drew 1-1, while São Tomé and Príncipe claimed a 1-0 victory over Malawi.
In Group B, where Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo are locked in a fierce battle for the top spot, only one match was played today. South Sudan and Togo shared the points in a goalless draw.
The final game of the day took place in Group C, where the most drama unfolded. Lesotho defeated Zimbabwe 1-0. However, tomorrow’s matches will be even more decisive — South Africa, Nigeria, and Benin all still have a chance to claim the top spot.
