The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, to be hosted in Morocco, will be broadcast by CANAL+ across English and Portuguese-speaking African countries.
In addition to these two languages, CANAL+ will also air the tournament in French and several local African languages, making it the most linguistically inclusive coverage in the competition’s history.
CANAL+ Africa CEO David Mignot stated, “Our new merger with the MultiChoice Group has opened up opportunities and advantages for our customers. This year’s Africa Cup of Nations is one of the best demonstrations of our shared ambition: combining our expertise to deliver an unprecedented viewing experience.”
He added, “Broadcasting this tournament in different languages is an important way to strengthen our bond with viewers. For all these reasons, our subscribers will be part of the most spectacular celebration of African football.”
CAF President Patrice Motsepe noted that last year’s AFCON attracted 1.5 billion viewers worldwide, expressing optimism that this year’s edition will surpass those numbers and reach an even wider audience.
In Nigeria and surrounding regions, fans will be able to watch matches in English or Pidgin English. In East African countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, Swahili commentary will be available. Meanwhile, in Angola, South Africa, and Mozambique, fans will continue to enjoy matches in Portuguese on SuperSport, as they are accustomed to.
Additionally, South African viewers will have access to commentary in isiZulu and Setswana, alongside the standard English and Portuguese broadcasts.
