Kenya-based startup BURN raised $27 million last year, with $12 million in April and $15 million in October.
Now, the company has secured an additional $80 million investment to continue its mission of expanding clean cooking solutions across Africa.
This new funding will be used to expand BURN’s operations in Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Zambia. The company aims to deliver clean cooking devices to approximately 430,000 households in these countries.
HIGH-TECH FEATURES IN BURN’S STOVES
BURN’s stoves are known for offering Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled, eco-friendly, and economical solutions.
They also have strong carbon credit potential. The company’s flagship products include ECOA biomass stoves and next-generation induction cookstoves.
These devices are designed to significantly reduce emissions, eliminate indoor air pollution, and lower fuel costs.
NEW INVESTMENT TO EXPAND BURN’S IMPACT
The initiative is expected to benefit more than 2.1 million people and prevent over 3 million tons of CO₂ emissions.
Founded in 2011, BURN has sold over 5.4 million clean cookstoves to date. The company currently operates manufacturing facilities in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Malawi and is active in 14 African countries.
With this latest funding round, BURN is expected to further expand its impact across Africa and contribute more to sustainable living and clean energy access across the continent
