Burkina Faso’s Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, General Célestin Simporé, confirmed the elimination of Sangaré Kalirou, a high-profile militant leader, during the monthly flag-raising ceremony in Ouagadougou on Thursday. The event, symbolizing national pride and military discipline, gathered soldiers, gendarmes, airmen, sappers, retired service members, veterans, and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

In his speech, General Simporé applauded the dedication of the National Armed Forces. He highlighted their key role in national security and cultural promotion. He also commended those involved in organizing the 29th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).
