Zambia head coach Avram Grant has stepped down from his position.
The experienced manager, who failed to deliver the expected performance in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers, will not be in charge of the team during AFCON 2025.
Despite finishing ahead of Ivory Coast to top their group in the AFCON qualifiers, Grant’s side ended up fourth in their World Cup qualifying group behind Morocco, Niger, and Tanzania.
Their failure to score in three consecutive home defeats sparked widespread criticism across the country.
In AFCON 2025, Zambia have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Mali, and Comoros. The tournament will kick off in December, and it remains uncertain whether a new head coach will be appointed in time.
However, it is expected that an interim coach will lead the team in their friendly match against South Africa on November 11.
