Europe’s top clubs are battling for Ademola Lookman.
Inter have made the Nigerian winger their top target for the attacking line, while Juventus, Napoli, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Liverpool are also seriously interested in the player.
However, the club that has made the most progress in negotiations appears to be Atlético Madrid.
According to a report by Football Italia published in recent weeks, Atalanta are expecting a transfer fee of around €50 million for the player.
Lookman has made 118 appearances for the Italian club, scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists, significantly improving his performance in recent years.
Last summer, PSG tried to sign the player, but Atalanta blocked the transfer. This year, Atalanta attempted to extend his contract, but Lookman rejected the offer. As a result, the club is determined to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for free.
One of the key factors that gives Atlético Madrid an advantage in the transfer race is the recent sale of Ángel Correa to Tigres UANL.
Thanks to that deal, Atlético now has the financial capacity to comfortably pay Lookman’s €60 million release clause—provided they reach an agreement with the player.
