Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will not attend the emergency Arab summit on the Palestinian crisis, set for Tuesday in Cairo. Instead, he has assigned Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf to represent Algeria.
A source cited by the Algerian News Agency said Tebboune’s decision was due to concerns over the summit’s planning. According to the source, a small group of Arab nations controlled the preparations, excluding other countries from key discussions. As a result, they set the agenda without broad consultation.
“The process was dominated by a few countries who determined the summit’s conclusions without coordinating with the wider Arab world,” the source stated.
Tebboune opposed this approach, believing that all Arab nations should have a voice in decisions about Palestine. Algeria views the Palestinian cause as a shared responsibility and rejects any process that limits participation.
By skipping the summit, Algeria is expressing its dissatisfaction with what it sees as an unfair and unbalanced decision-making process.
