According to a report published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the end of June, Algeria climbed 15 places in the global ICT Development rankings and is now ranked 74th.
This marks a significant leap for the North African country in a short period of time.
According to the assessment data, Algeria scored 86.1 points in the ICT Development Index.
This score is well above the global average of 78 points, the African average of 56.1 points, and the average of upper-middle-income countries, which is 81.1 points.
The scoring system is considered the most important indicator for measuring and evaluating the level of ICT development in countries.
The index highlights two key factors: first, the rate of internet access among households and individuals; second, the beneficial and affordable use of the internet across various sectors.
Algeria’s achievement reflects the outcome of effective policies implemented in the country.
