Egyptian champions Al Ahly will face Brazilian giants Palmeiras today in the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, they will be without one of their key players, Taher Mohamed Taher, in both this match and their upcoming game against Porto. According to recent medical tests, the player has suffered a muscle injury.
This is a major blow for Al Ahly, as they had already lost their star player Emam Ashour to injury during their opening match against Inter Miami. It was later confirmed that Ashour would miss the rest of the tournament.
Adding to their injury concerns, midfielder Ahmed Nabil “Koka” will also be unavailable for the next match due to a knee injury.
Al Ahly is one of four African representatives in the tournament. In their group, all the opening matches ended in 0-0 draws, meaning that there have been no changes in the group standings so far.
