Group E and Group F action at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations concluded with decisive results as Algeria booked a place in the last 16, while key matches in Group F ended in tight contests.
In Group F, Ivory Coast and Cameroon played out a 1-1 draw at Marrakesh Stadium. Ivory Coast took the lead in the 51st minute through Amad Diallo, but Cameroon equalized five minutes later after Ghislain Kona scored an own goal.
In the group’s other match, Mozambique defeated Gabon 3-2 at Adrar Stadium in Agadir. Following these results, Ivory Coast and Cameroon both moved to four points, Mozambique reached three, while Gabon remained bottom with no points.
In Group E, Algeria secured their place in the knockout stage after a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso at Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat. Riyad Mahrez scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute, taking Algeria to six points and guaranteeing progression to the round of 16.
Elsewhere in the group, Sudan defeated Equatorial Guinea 1-0 thanks to a 74th-minute own goal by Saul Coco. Algeria lead Group E, while Burkina Faso and Sudan now sit level on three points each, and Equatorial Guinea remain without a point.
