South Sudan has joined the Smart Africa Trust Alliance (SATA), becoming the 17th country to sign the declaration aimed at enhancing digital services across the continent.
This significant step was formalized by South Sudan’s Minister of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) and Postal Services, Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, alongside Smart Africa CEO Lacina Koné.
With this move, South Sudan has taken an important step forward in its digital transformation journey. The country is now in a position to establish trusted connections with other member states and move more confidently toward creating a unified framework that promotes digital trust.
SATA plays a vital role on the continent by supporting harmonized policies in areas such as data protection, digital identity, and cross-border digital services.
South Sudan’s decision to join this initiative demonstrates its long-term commitment to fostering secure, interoperable, and people-centered digital ecosystems.
