Nigerian star Peter Olayinka has parted ways with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade after playing 11 matches and has now become a free agent.
Olayinka stated that he is seeking a new challenge in his career and requested to leave the club.
The Serbian side announced his departure with the following statement:
“Peter expressed his desire to pursue a new challenge in his career, and the club respected his wish. We thank him for his professionalism, dedication, and contribution to our team.”
“Crvena Zvezda is grateful to Olayinka for everything he has done in the red-and-white jersey and wishes him success, good health, and happiness in the continuation of his career. Thank you, Peter – and good luck!”
The main reason behind his departure was his decreasing playing time and struggle to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup.
Olayinka had hoped to build on his impressive spell at Slavia Prague and take his career to the next level with Red Star, but things didn’t go as planned.
Having played in Belgium, Cyprus, Albania, and the Czech Republic, the winger is now ready to embrace a new challenge in a different league.
He aims to regain top form and earn a recall to the Nigerian national team, whose jersey he hasn’t worn since 2019.
