Africa’s largest research and development center will be inaugurated in Algeria.
The announcement was made by Post and Telecommunications Minister Sid Ali Zerrouki during a session held alongside the opening ceremony of the 4th E-commerce and Online Services Exhibition (ECSEL EXPO), which also addressed questions and concerns from start-up representatives.
Minister Zerrouki stated that agreements would be signed with global technology leaders as part of the center. The facility will serve as an open innovation space where young researchers and developers can turn their ideas into concrete projects that contribute to the national economy.
Supported by Algeria Venture and the Ministries of Digital Economy and Trade, this project is expected to significantly strengthen the country’s national economy and its artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Minister Noureddine Ouadah highlighted the remarkable recent progress in Algeria’s technology sector and emphasized that ensuring the sustainability of these advancements has now become imperative.
Ouadah also noted that this project will play a key role in supporting efforts to establish a solid foundation for a knowledge-based economy.
