Algerian left winger Said Benrahma has been fined £12,000 for owning two dangerously out-of-control dogs.
The player, who owns two XL Bully dogs, was found guilty after his pets escaped from his home in July 2023 and attacked a golden retriever and a man. The incident was reviewed at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
Benrahma, who spent four seasons playing for West Ham, attended the hearing via video link from a car in Saudi Arabia, where he currently plays in the Saudi Pro League.
The 30-year-old footballer stated that the dogs escaped after someone working for him at the time forgot to close a gate.
It was confirmed that the victim of the attack, Luke Rehbin, sustained grazes to his arms and legs while grappling with Benrahma’s dogs.
