Namibia and Zimbabwe have secured their places in the 2026 T20 World Cup after reaching the final of the African qualifying tournament.
Namibia defeated Tanzania by 63 runs in the semi-final, while Zimbabwe comfortably beat Kenya by seven wickets. This marks Namibia’s fourth consecutive qualification for the tournament, whereas Kenya last appeared in the finals back in 2022.
The final between the two teams will be played on Saturday, but regardless of the result, both sides have already booked their tickets to the World Cup.
Namibia failed to progress beyond the group stage in the 2022 and 2024 tournaments. However, in 2021, they recorded victories over the Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland, before being knocked out in the Super 12 stage.
Next year’s tournament will take place from 7 February to 8 March, with a total of 20 nations competing. Among them will be Namibia and Zimbabwe.
