Ethiopia and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen their partnership in the digital and emerging technology sectors.
The high-level bilateral dialogue held in Addis Ababa was attended by Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla Getahun, and China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Lecheng.
The two countries emphasized the importance of future-focused solutions for sustainable development. Minister Belete Molla stated that the partnership between Ethiopia and China goes beyond traditional diplomacy, describing it as a relationship built on shared vision, political trust, and mutual development goals.
At the center of this collaboration is Ethiopia’s Digital Transformation Agenda. With priorities including the expansion of digital infrastructure, enhancement of e-government services, establishment of innovation hubs, and the development of digital skills, this agenda aims to shape Ethiopia’s long-term development plan. It also seeks to strengthen resilience in the rapidly evolving global digital economy.
With the signing of the MoU, a new chapter in Ethiopia–China technology cooperation has officially begun.
