Nigeria, which has been struggling with cybersecurity challenges, has signed an important cybersecurity agreement with Kaspersky.
The agreement was formalized during the GITEX Nigeria 2025 event in Lagos, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and Kaspersky’s General Manager for Africa, Chris Norton.
Kaspersky will support the strengthening of cyber capacity across the country and organize training programs to develop local expertise.
In addition, under the agreement, Nigerians will gain access to intelligence sharing on cyber threats and attacks that may impact government institutions and critical digital infrastructure.
Finally, Kaspersky will also support NITDA in updating its cybersecurity standards.
This step is considered a significant measure against cyberattacks, which are among the biggest challenges faced during the continent’s digitalization process.
Nigeria is one of the African countries most frequently targeted by cyberattacks. If this system proves successful, it could pave the way for other African nations to sign similar agreements.
